BRENDA SHENHER - International Costume Designer

Brenda ShenherBrenda began her career in Film in 1994 and she began Designing in 2000. Her early successes were based upon her innate talent as well as the knowledge gained in six years of pursuing her craft throughout cities such as Vancouver and Toronto; her Education in Film Studies, Art, Art History, later 20th Century pop culture; and an indefatigable drive to achieve a quality of excellence in all of her work.

She has continued to achieve and has developed herself as an International Costume Designer with Feature Film credits in Belgium, the United States of America and Canada. She also has earned International Television credits from the BBC UK, Canal + France, Antena 3 Spain, RSABC South Africa, CTV, CBC Canada and ABC, CBS, Showtime in the United States of America. She has premiered films at Cannes in 2012 (Chained), at Sundance in 2009 (Grace), at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2003 (Falling Angels) and in 2011 (Hard Core Logo II), at the Rome Film Festival and the Brussels Film Festival in 2012 (Little Glory), at many other International Film Festivals and has received National awards and nominations.

Actors she has worked with and Designed for include those mentioned above as well as Julia Ormond, Vincent D’Onoforio, Christian Slater, Eamon Ferren, Miranda Richardson, Charlize Theron, Dennis Hopper, Nick Stahl, Ray Liotta, Joel David Moore, John Hannah, Cameron Bright, Kim Coates, Michael Madsen, Amanda Plummer, Billy Burke, Pam Grier, Bruce Greenwood, Michael Ironside, Michael Shanks, Kathleen Robertson, Jane Seymour, John Cusack, John McGinley, Miranda Otto, John Goodman, Scott Wilson, Amanda Tapping, Robin Dunne, Kristin Kruek, Billy Boyd.

Brenda truly loves to Design. She experiences great joy in painting pictures with her Costumes and then having them realized within the frame of a camera lens. She fully believes in the magic of a truthful collaboration. She brings passion and dedication to the process of connecting with and embracing the Director’s vision, achieving synchronicity with the Production Designer and the DOP and then creating a Costume that serves the afore mentioned needs’ as well as aiding the Actor in the development of his/her character.

Recently she has embraced Education with the same passionate quality of excellence as she has given Filmmaking and has begun teaching Design and Film Seminars both Nationally and Internationally.

Brenda lives and works from both a small town in the middle of Southern Saskatchewan, Canada and Los Angeles, California.
